CompassLearning Odyssey is only available to students using the computers within our school system and the address http://compass.cmcss.net. Teachers can access CompassLearning outside of school at http://68.119.97.218Never share your username or password with anyone.
Academic coaches have 2 accounts. To access your academic coach teacher account, your username is your MUNIS number. Your password is your capitalized first and last initials followed by the last 4 numbers of your social security number. To access the admin account for your school, the username and password was given to you. If you cannot find or remember it, please contact Helen Gooch or Chris Pugh.
In the past, students logged into Compass by going to http://compass.cmcss.net using their lunch/PowerSchool number as a Username and their first initial, last initial, and last 4 numbers of their Social Security Number as their password. Students without SSN's used the numbers "1234" in place of the last 4 of a Social Security Number.
Summer 2012's events changed the pattern for their password. Principals began receiving information about the new CMCSS student password pattern. Currently, that pattern is not working in Compass. Since all students have no SSN, so for the time being, ALL students are using "1234" where their SSN used to be. As Compass is updated, the new CMCSS student password pattern will likely take its place. Please share the login information with your teachers.
For now, students will need to login using their lunch/PowerSchool number as a Username and their first initial, last initial, and "1234"as their password. See example below.
Two Accounts - Academic Coach Account and Admin Account
Academic coaches have a teacher account and an admin account.
Your teacher account...
allows you to see what a teacher sees when they are accessing CompassLearning.
allows you to access the district level assessments and TestBuilder information, which teachers cannot see currently.
allows you to assign the district level assessments to the students.
Your admin account...
allows you to add new teachers to your building.
allows you to delete past teachers from your building.
allows you to reset teacher passwords.
allows you to delete assignments and classes of any teacher in your building.
allows you to view and print reports beyond what a classroom teacher will need.
Login with your username (MUNIS number) and password (first initial, last initial, and last 4 of SSN).
Go to the MY STUDENTS tab.
Click on MY CLASSES from the left column of the window.
Click NEW and CLASS to create a new class to hold your CORE students, or EDIT the existing class to update it. You should have 5 classes at the minimum (1st Grade CORE, 2nd Grade CORE, 3rd Grade CORE, 4th Grade CORE, and 5th Grade CORE). Additional classes will be needed when it is time to assign selected students to either the PREREQUISITE or ENRICHMENT tests.
Click MY SCHOOL and then STUDENTS in the left column.
Click the tiny down arrows by NARROW BY ATTRIBUTES at the bottom left corner of the window. A hidden section will open.
Checkmark one grade level, then click NARROW by the green arrow. You will see only students for that one grade level. This is an improvement over last year.
Click the selection button by the FIRST NAME column.
Click on CHECK ALL. All students from that grade level will be selected.
Click ACTIONS and then ADD TO CLASS.
Select the CORE class for that group of students, then ADD.
Before moving to next group of students, click on the selection button by the FIRST NAME Column and then click UNCHECK ALL.
Repeat steps 7-13 for remaining grade levels.
Students in grades 1-5 should now be in a class for the CORE group. Now, assign the correct assessment to each CORE group.
Assigning the District Level Assessments to Classes
Click on the COURSES & ASSIGNMENTS tab.
Click the ASSIGNMENTS ARCHIVE button.
Use the SEARCH tool in the left column to narrow your assignment search.
Choose DISTRICT under Availability, MATH under Subject, Correct grade under Grade, ACTIVE under Status, and type "12-13" in the Keyword section. Click SEARCH.
Checkmark the CORE Pretest to assign.
Click the blue and white ASSIGN TO STUDENTS button from the top of the section.
Checkmark the name of the class, and all students in the class will be selected.
Click Finish.
Repeat for other CORE Pretests
